Thousands flock to Coverley

Thousands of prospective homeowners and retiring couples filled The Villages at Coverley in Christ Church today when developers held a mortgage fair and open house.
The two- and three-bedroom homes, valued at between $289 000 and about $342 000, impressed those visiting as they surveyed the fancily outfitted bedrooms and living rooms, immaculate bathroom facilities, strikingly designed kitchens with granite countertops, laundry facilities and roomy garages.
Visiting patrons examined every nook and cranny in the houses, opening cupboards, relaxing in the furniture and even taking pictures of the homes as they were escorted around The Villages by representatives.
But what attracted most prospective owners was the lifestyle community-oriented Coverley Square, which would cater to almost every need. Coverley Square is expected to encompass a day care centre, doctors’ offices, gas station, a gym, restaurant and bar, clothing and shoe stores – all in walking distance – plus a large playing field and more.
Chief executive officer of Housing Concepts, Mark Maloney, who was on hand to explain the features of the homes, said the joint venture programme between Housing Concepts and the National Housing Corporation (NHC) was conceptualized through developers wanting to bring an innovative housing concept to Barbados.
The Villages are expected to be completed in 2014 and will have 1 028 homes in total.
