COULD ALL the political pundits have the wrong date?
Cou Cou has been keeping its ears to the ground and the whispers are that it will all happen on Labour Day or days before.
What are we talking about?
The much-debated Big Switch, of course.
Quoting “impeccable sources”, one well-known columnist indicated it would all have happened at the end of last month. Subsequently, rumours were rife that in fact the big announcement would have taken place two weeks ago.
Well, Cou Cou has put all the pieces together and it would now appear that there will be a “May Day” in May.
It all has to do with the low profile a certain individual has been told to keep until then.
The big question is: Who will be left sitting in their chairs and who will be left standing?
Cou Cou understands the cabinet will still be filled with all the basic goods, with a few additions.
Who’ll bear red flag?
The big question nowadays is who will be carrying the red flag in a certain St Michael riding in a couple years’ time?
That is almost sure to come up for discussion at a meeting of minds at a certain Black Rock institution of learning.
Two of the big-ups in a certain party are down to speak and there is no masking the interest in who will be the next good man or woman on the farm.
Forcing a hand
Some are calling for a freeze of assets, others are calling for a review, but it seems no one is willing to go on record.
Is this because certain big-ups don’t want to stake their claims?
Maybe the noise being made by a certain big-up from outside may force someone’s hand.
Everyone seems to be making sure some kind of insurance is taken out.
Finally some support
It seems that a certain politico has finally found the support to throw her hat into the ring.
From all the reports, most of the other potential candidates said they were unwilling to contest the riding for health reasons and so it is left to this businesswoman to go to the crease to bat her first innings.
Moreover, via a letter to residents, she has got the blessing of a former queen of the hive.
Anyway, Cou Cou is not getting involved in their business.
A lot to think about
Some are telling him he has his reputation to uphold, not to get involved and rather book a bed and breakfast at some hotel on the south coast.
Others are, however, saying he has a wheelbarrow of votes to be won and he has the blessing of the church.
Whatever the case, this guy has a lot to think about.
No firm foundation
Every learning institution has to be built on some kind of foundation – be it board or cement.
But it would seem that a certain Christ Church establishment has neither wood nor steel to stand on at this moment.
Does someone have a sixth sense about what is about to happen or will someone get away scot-free even if they are caught up trying to keep another union together?
