PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 jolted Trinidad today but there were no immediate reports of injuries or destruction.
However, the Seismic Unit at the University of the West Indies (UWI) said the quake, which occurred at 12.51 pm (local time) and felt along the northern range of the island, “is estimated to be part of the September 29, 2006 sequence of events”.
On that day, an earthquake measuring 6.0 rattled both Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
The earthquake today was located at 10.72°N and 61.61°W with a depth of 57km, the Unit said. (CMC)
