Legend to lift Bajans

Barbadians will Get Lifted as they take a musical journey with Grammy Award winner John Legend who is set to perform in Barbados on May 10.
The show will be held at the gymnasium at the Garfield Sobers Complex, is being promoted by Deryck Walcott Productions and The Plantation Theatre Productions.
The recording artist and musician, was born in December 28, 1978 as John Stephens.
John Legend released his debut album,  Get Lifted  in December 2004. It debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200, selling 116,000 copies in its first week.  It then went on to sell 2.1 million copies in the United States and was certified Platinum, selling three million copies worldwide.     
John Legend and The Roots  teamed up to record a collaborative album Wake Up which was released on September 21, 2010. The first single released off the album is “Wake Up Everybody” featuring singer Melanie Fiona and rapper Common.
Walcott had reported earlier that Legend’s performance in Barbados was in the works for about two years, noting that scheduling at the time was the challenge.
He said they have been getting good feedback from Barbadians who are eagerly awaiting the show. (CM)
