The People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) of Barbados is calling upon the governments of the non-white world – the governments of Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia – to demand that the so-called Western nations that are engaged in an unjustified terroristic military assault on the nation and people of Libya immediately terminate this racist imperialistic onslaught or face the suspension of diplomatic relations with our governments and a multitude of requests to remove their ambassadors and embassies from our various territories.
The nations of the non-white world must not sit back and simply allow the traditional exponents of international white supremacy – Britain, France, Germany, the United States and Canada – to invade, decimate and dismember the African nation of Libya.
What they are doing to Libya now is a substantial replay of what they did to Iraq over the past decade or so. They bombed, blockaded and invaded Iraq; they murdered the leader of Iraq and caused the deaths of millions of Iraqi civilians; they plunged the country into long-term chaos and feloniously appropriated Iraq’s resources and wealth to themselves.
Having had their way in committing such a horrendous act of racist imperialist domination in the heart of the Middle East, these so-called Western countries are now sufficiently emboldened to do the same thing in North Africa.
Indeed, their boldness has grown by leaps and bounds, for, in the case of Iraq, at least they felt constrained to put forward the justification that Iraq had attacked a neighbouring country, and that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. In the case of Libya, on the other hand, they assert no such alleged threat to foreign nations or international peace and security – merely a threadbare, laughable suggestion that the Libyan security forces are not entitled to repulse armed militias intent on violently overthrowing the government of Libya.
The nations of the non-white world therefore need to understand that if they do not undertake serious measures to signal their profound displeasure at and opposition to this racist imperialist imposition on Libya, they will be setting themselves up to be future victims.
If we do not speak out and act now, we will be paving the way for a return to the worst years of white, racist imperialism.
Let us therefore make full use of the weapons at our disposal.
Let us use the privilege of diplomatic recognition to send a serious message to these Western purveyors of warfare and chaos.
Let us give the governments of Britain, France, Germany, the United States and Canada a firm deadline by which they must end their unjustified military assault on Libya. And let us warn them that if they do not adhere to our legitimate demand, that we will be suspending diplomatic recognition of their governments, and requesting their consular officials to leave our countries.
The PEP of Barbados is hereby calling upon the governments of the African Union, the Caribbean Community, Mercosur and ALBA of South and Central America, and other relevant states of ASEAN and the Non-Aligned Movement to urgently meet and adopt this proposal as a collective position.
