THE?SATURDAY Night Friendship Group has come to the assistance of ailing Barbados dominoes player Keith “Monga” Goddard.
During the semi-finals of the Mount Gay Pre-Easter 3-Hand Tournament, last week, the Director of Sports at the National Sports Council, Erskine King, made a presentation of $1 300 on behalf of the Friendship Group.
Brand manager of Mount Gay, Marc McCollin, also made a presentation of some gifts on behalf of the group to Goddard and his wife Carolyn.
Both King and McCollin praised the group for its welfare effort and wished Goddard, who has cancer, a full recovery.
Sharon Hunte of the Friendship Group spoke glowingly of Goddard’s 29 years in the dominoes fraternity.
She also thanked those members who contributed, and King and McCollin for making the presentations.
After the presentations, the semi-finals witnessed close clashes between Lookers, Venom and Whiskeyer’s; Combat, Specialists and Dina’s; and Bad Dogs, Kittens and Welch Stars.
Kittens, Whiskeyer’s and Specialists came out on top and will contest tomorrow’s final at Peter’s Place in Brittons Hill for first, second and third prizes of $1 600, $1 000 and $600.  (EZS)
