ABOUT 30 BARBADIANS will be employed when the newest property on the South Coast opens its doors next month.
Patricia Affonso-Dass, group general manager of Oceans Two, in Dover, Christ Church, gave a sneak peek of the facilities last Friday at the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association’s members mingle. She said the 70-room condo/hotel property was built at a cost of about $50 million.
“It is really an ideal product for the incentive market, weddings and families and really, I think, we have raised the bar on the quality of accommodation on the South Coast of Barbados.
“I think Barbados is a really fantastic destination. Over the last number of years there has been a call for new and improved product on the island and this, I think, speaks really well to that need in the market at the moment,” Affonso-Dass said.
Sales and marketing manager Melissa Chalbeaud said 25 per cent of the condos had already been sold. She added buyers from Canada were “strong”, and there had been some buyers from Barbados, the region and some interests out of Britain.
Oceans Two will also be opening its doors to locals. Operations manager Paul Collymore said it would be going after the Staycation market.
“We’ll be catering to locals and certainly to families; that’s going to be a big priority for us as well. We will be going after the local market in a big way, and certainly to our industry partners,” he said.
