PETER BARROW is back and he will be seeking not only to get the nod from the Democratic Labour Party’s (DLP) Christ Church West branch to represent his party, but also to conquer a perennial hurdle by winning the seat for the DLP in the next general election.
Barrow said today he was once again seeking to represent the constituency after having contested and lost in two general elections – in 1999 and 2003 respectively. As he put it, he represented the DLP in the worst of times.
“When no one else wanted to oppose the Barbados Labour Party’s [BLP] lions in that constituency, I put up my hand and came forward. Now that there are cubs around I do not see why I should not seek to do something that I love – and that is to represent the people of a constituency that I am very close to,” Barrow said.
Retired politician Sir Henry Forde and current parliamentarian Dr William Duguid are the BLP members who have represented the constituency over three decades. (WG)
