In making a call for team unity, Rector of St Peter’s Parish Church, Reverend Peter Haynes said the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) has a proud history but there must be healing and a united front if the party wants to be the party of choice once more.
He was speaking, today, at a thanksgiving service to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the BLP.
Before a packed congregation that included former Prime Minister Owen Arthur, deputy leader Dale Marshall, Dame Billie Miller, Lady Stella St John and party stalwarts Lindsay Bolden and Ishmael Roett, Reverend Haynes acknowledged he was concerned by the impression he got when he read the newspaper.
“When I open the newspaper and read about people quarrelling and fighting, whether true or not, I don’t know I am not on the inside, but it looks bad. It is time we put things right. It is time we put things in perspective,” he said. (MK)
