PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – President George Maxwell Richards today revoked the appointment of the embattled Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Nizam Mohammed.
In a brief statement, the President gave no reasons for the dismissal, saying only that he had acted under the powers vested in him by the Constitution of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mohammed, a former Speaker of the House of representatives, had defied calls for his resignation after making a statement to the Joint Select Committee of Parliament regarding the composition of the hierarchy of the country’s police service. (CMC)
