Little-known Robert Bishop upset defending seven seconds champion Steve Bruce as drivers settled the Barbados Association of Dragsters and Drifters (BADD) Twisted Drag Warz 2 at Bushy Park last Sunday.
On a day of fluctuating fortunes the two drivers earned their respective places in the finals for the Seven Seconds Class by whipping a cross-section of good drivers.
Preparation began with official qualifying with Bruce posting a personal best time of 7.514 seconds, only to be bettered by Stanford who posted a time of 7.099 seconds.
However, Bruce at the wheel of the Belleville Motor Oils Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. III, defeated Stanford setting up a final with Bishop in the RB Performance Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. VII.
But the finals, which were a two-best-of-three runs, and between two drivers with two evenly matched cars, the cameras could not separate them  at the end of the first run.
Fortunes went downhill for Bruce when the two drivers returned to the start as he committed two start line blunders and caused the two races to be awarded to Bishop along with the Seven Seconds Class title.
He had a personal best time of 7.432 seconds.
Earlier, Anthony-Ramon Archer in the Spartan Restaurant/Belleville Motor Oils Nissan GTR took the 8-9 seconds title after two false starts by Shawn Fields in a Corolla, while Christopher Sargeant in the Belleville Motor Oils Nissan Sentra made no mistakes as he drove away with the 9-10 Seconds crown, beating Jamal Walcott in the finals.
Jason Downey in a Toyota RunX won the 10-11 Seconds class beating Albert Collymore in a Starlet; Clifton Pilgrim in the Shell Top Rock Toyota Corolla won the 11-12 Seconds Class beating Kevin Goddard in a Mitsubishi Lancer, while Brook Miller emerged as the motorcycle champion.Forty cars and three motorcycles took part in the day’s action.
