Carlton got their first win in the Barbados Netball Association’s Premier League, beating Brydens Anchor 41-36 on Monday night at the Netball Stadium.
It was the clash of the two winless teams as Carlton have lost to both C.O. Williams Rangers and Pine Hill St Barnabas, while Brydens Anchor went down to St Barnabas and Phoenix Gems.
Leading by four goals, Carlton outscored Brydens 12-5 in the second quarter to hold the 24-13 half-time lead. Both teams scored eight goals in the third quarter and although Brydens scored 15 goals to Carlton’s nine in the fourth, the deficit was too much to overcome.
Chemyne Alleyne scored 22 from 29 and Shannon Hackett 19 from 27 for Carlton. Adonna Griffith had an off night with 16 from 26, Shakeena Rock 12 from 17 and Leah Harper eight from 11 for Brydens Anchor.
Kiwi Catalysts were also getting their first victory in Division 2 after losing the first three matches, beating Barbados Lumber Co. UAC 40-31.
Stacia Franklyn had 28 from 42 and Mariama Eastmond 12 from 18. Tabitha Chapman scored 22 from 25 and Kelly Harewood nine from 12 for UAC. (SAT)
