Grammy award winner Rihanna, who is set to perform on American Idol tonight, says men are intimidated by her.
Admitting to American talk show host Ryan Seacrest yesterday on his radio programme that she was single, Rihanna, 23, said she was hopeful that one day someone will not be intimidated by her.
“It’s a lot to handle, especially being in the public’s eye and it could be difficult…it could be tricky,” she admitted in the telephone interview.
In the short interview, Rihanna also spoke about her latest single, a remix of the controversial song S&M with Britney Spears.
When questioned about the negative publicity surrounding the song, Rihanna acknowledged that S&M was provocative if taken literally. However, she said the underlying message of the song was really about her “love-hate” relationship with the Press.
“I tried to make this apparent in the video but people respond to it the way they do because they just hear the words,” she said.
The song was banned in a number of countries. Rihanna said she didn’t believe the song was that raunchy.
“I thought it was fun, funny and corky but again, people just hear the words,” she quipped.
Rihanna told Seacrest she never expected the song to go this far, because she believed people would have been hesitant because of its lyrical content.
Rihanna said she would be going on tour for the rest of the year.
She also announced that tomorrow on Idol, she will be performing California King Bed.
Rihanna said would also be opening at the upcoming Billboard awards. (CM)
