In a bid to refurbish the image of the annual Oistin’s Fish Festival, now in its 34th year, organisers are venturing into the unknown.
They are borrowing the “classic cars” from Holetown for a parade between Granny’s restaurant and Maxwell, on the opening day of the festival on Saturday.
Crop Over bandleader Betty West is spearheading a Festival Parade – a carnival-type road show, with the emphasis on floats and costumes depicting aspects of the fishing industry.
Apart from Heritage Village, the three-day programme will also include activities at the festival village to be set up in the area known as Granny’s car park.
It will feature a wide-range of music and entertainment by such artistes and groups as Trevor Eastmond, Mikey Dread and Peter Ram, Full Force Band, Haynesville Drummers and the live-wire street dancers, Adrenalin, of Oistins. (PR)
