Minister of the Environment Denis Kellman says his plans to have a skyscraper-type tower built in St Lucy would have benefits for tourism.
Addressing the official opening of the Checker Hall, St Lucy recreational park, Kellman said, “I am vigorously pursuing the development of the area at Lamberts. Those who have travelled to Canada and gone to the CN Tower would appreciate what we plan to do at Lamberts,” he said.
“It is our intention . . . to ensure that site not only has a viewpoint but the necessary infrastructure to be one of the best tourism locations in Barbados,” he declared.
Kellman said he had already spoken to the ministries of energy and housing to have the area handed over to the National Conservation Commission (NCC) so work could begin “shortly”.
