Cancer Support in God’s service

Members of Cancer Support Services (CSS) have been told that their work “is an extension of God in our society”.
Pastor Wesley Dear made this declaration during a recent service at Coveant Life Teaching Centre, to mark CSS’ 15th anniversary.
The packed congregation included Minister of Health Donville Inniss and  Supreme Court Registrar Marva Clarke, a member of CSS’ board of trustees.
Dear pledged to give a sum of money to CSS each month, for the next year, to assist it with its work, which includes caring for people with cancer and helping to maintain Ward C 12 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Inniss also lauded CSS for its “outstanding work” and stressed that Government could not take care of each issue relating to health on its own.
Preaching a message entitled In Need of A Miracle, Dear spoke about the woman with an issue of blood who pressed through the crowd, touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, and was healed, and the healing of Jairus’ daughter (Mark 5: 21- 42).
“The Scriptures say she was healed immediately. This is the most special miracle in the Bible; it took place without the apparent participation of Jesus.
“This woman took her blessing without asking Jesus for anything. She simply extracted His power out of His body. She never gave up. She kept believing and trying,” the pastor said.
“Jairus waited to have a miracle for his 12-year-old daughter whom he did not want to lose and who had brought him 12 years of happiness. This woman, on the other hand, wanted to lose her disease which had brought her 12 years of sorrow and misery,” Dear stressed.
He noted that after giving all her money to doctors, who failed to provide a cure, she still believed a breakthrough would come.
Dear said she never lost her passion for healing, and urged his listeners not to allow the devil to rob them of their passion to persevere.
‘This woman’s passion and perseverance allowed her to remain patient and to tolerate difficult delays, when it seemed as though nothing was happening.
“Like her, if you can get close to Jesus, you will not fail.
“When she decided to touch Jesus, Jairus had already asked Jesus to come to his house to heal his daughter.
“Jesus walked off with Jairus, but this woman forced her way in and touched the tassel on Jesus. Jairus got there first, but she got her miracle before he did.”
Dear declared: “I don’t care how long you have been waiting. Today could be your day to receive a miracle from God. All it’s going to take to see the supernatural power of God is to keep believing; for nothing is impossible with God.”
After the sermon, scores flocked to the altar for prayer.
