Man found dead

A?ST MICHAEL MAN, who vanished without trace on Sunday night, was discovered dead nearly 48 hours after in a cart road in St John yesterday.
The body of Harcourt Millar, a resident of Waldron’s Gap in the Back Ivy, was reportedly spotted by passers-by at the back of the desolate cane field stretch not far away from Hackleton Cliff.
Millar, who would have turned 60 in October, was sitting in the driver’s seat of his car.
There was a huge outpouring of emotion for the long-serving Roberts Manufacturing mechanic, with friends having to console son Ryan and daughter Janelle.
The father of three has another daughter, Monique, who resides in the United States.
“He was a good man, always quiet and cool. It is hard to understand why he would travel this distance. We are all baffled. Everyone had been looking for Harcourt since Sunday night,” said one friend.
Janelle, his last child, and her mother Lena wept openly and had to be comforted by Peter Richards, a co-worker of the deceased.
 “This is a mystery. It’s hard to understand why he would have picked out such a secluded area to come,” remarked one resident of the quiet rural community.
Sisters Deborah Millar and Transeata Hinkson could not fight back the tears; and the glum faces of Cortez and Anthony Millar told the story of brothers hurting.
Police officers at District C were on the scene till late last night searching for clues. (MK)
