Barbados Light and Power is hoping that things will be back to normal tomorrow after some employees did not turn up for work today.
Chief Marketing Officer Stephen Worme, in a company statement tonight, said the action mainly affected sections of the Company’s distribution and generation operations. The company, he said took steps to ensure that its operations were not disrupted and minimized any inconvenience to its customers.
“A number of employees of The Barbados Light & Power Company did not report for work today. On becoming aware of the situation the Company immediately contacted the Barbados Workers’ Union regarding the situation in an effort to have operations returned to normal.
“The Company values its longstanding good relationship with the Barbados Workers’ Union and expects that matters will return to normal by Friday morning.  Discussions will continue with the Union during June on the current round of negotiations for a new collective agreement,” it said.
Worme said the company would continue to monitor the situation.
