Eighteen-year-old Neil Browne fashioned a splendid unbeaten 109, his maiden Division 1 hundred, which earned Guardian General Barbados Youth a creditable draw against ESA Field Pickwick yesterday.
When the match was called off after nine of the mandatory 15 overs, Barbados Youth were 256 for five in their second innings.
Browne’s knock spanned 207 minutes, and was decorated with eight fours and three sixes from 147 balls. He shared in an attacking fifth-wicket stand of 106 with Jonathan Drakes, who lashed a maiden half-century of 61.
Drakes, in his second game at this level, hammered eight fours and one six from 70 deliveries before he was lbw sweeping.
Earlier, from an overnight 29 for no loss and still trailing by 50 runs, Barbados Youth found themselves in trouble at 56 for three. However, Browne and Kemar Brathwaite, with a solid (28) in over two hours, pulled things around with a defiant partnership of 89 for the fourth wicket. (EDH)
