Roberta Dowell recently had a chat with Style File about her personal style.
How would you define your personal style?
Simple, chic . . . elegant.
Do you find that you follow fashion trends or do you play by your own rules?
I tend to play by my own rules, opting for classic looks but if there is a trend that I like, for instance floral patterns are a hit this season, I’ll definitely wear one or two pieces.
Has your fashion sense changed over the years or has it remained the same?
Of course! Now that I’m an adult I’ve learnt to love dresses, full bodied skirts, patterns and vibrant colours.
As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your fashion sense?
As a child I loved dressing up but I didn’t always get it quite right!
Are there any colours that you tend to shy away from and if so why?
There aren’t many colours that I am afraid to wear.
How does your day-to-day life factor into your wardrobe choices?
My job allows me to dress up or be more relaxed, but I do always walk with a pair of stylish ballet flats because heels are not always my best friends.
Are there any designers locally that you like or whose clothing stands out with you?
Locally Bouik, Simon Peter and Nefertari are my favourite designers. I love how they fit and the colours these designers use. Internationally, I would have to say Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Chole, Bottega Veneta, L’wren Scott, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
