Meet to set torrid pace

There are some tantalizing match-ups on the cards today for the 2011 Pacers Track Club Invitational which gets underway at 9 a.m. at the National Stadium.
Athletes are getting in their final warm-ups ahead of the National Championships on June 24 and 26, hoping to book one of the coveted spaces to the international meets left on the calendar.
Shakera Reece vs Jade Bailey in the women’s 100 metres and 200m; Sonia Gaskin vs Cindy Forde in the women’s 800m; Sade-Mariah Greenidge vs Kenrisha Brathwaite in the women’s 100m hurdles, and Andrew Hinds vs Shekeim Greaves in the men’s 100 and 200m.
The men’s 100m brings together a very good field which also includes Elroy Agard, Deon Hope, Jermain Hinds, Justin Gooding, Simon Reid, Dwayne Beckles, Jerad Murray and Rachad Forde.
The 200m field is not as strong, but Nicholas Deshong, who has the fastest time of 20.85 seconds, will be put to the test against Greaves and Dario Alleyne.
The Under-17 Boys’ 100 and 200m also have two very exciting fields.
In the shorter distance Joshua Walcott, Levi Cadogan, Mario Burke, Tamal Atwell, Shae Nurse, Pierre Ekiyor, Avery Roach and Deondary Richards complete the field.
Ramarco Thompson, Ariko Small and Kevin McCaskie join Burke, Roach, Atwell, Cadogan and Walcott.
The 400m field includes Nikolai Gall, Christopher Davis, Roderick Best, Ken Mason, Shaquille Alleyne, Jamil Jones, Kemar Norgrove, Jamal Marshall and Rico Ward.
Anthonio Mascoll will be back in action in the 800m and will come up against Jerrad Mason, Ibrahim Hinds, John Haynes, Christian Rock, Jamar Maynard, Justin Blackman, Antoine Williams, Michael Hurdle and Hakeem Newton.
The women’s 400m will involve Forde, Althia Maximilien, Tia Adana Belle, Erica Charles, Akela Taylor, Chanice Howell and Cherrisse Lynch.
Forde will be back in the 800m against Gaskin, Maximilien, Shani Adams, Fraser, A-Lea Jordan and Rhea Rollins.
