No cop-out

The Royal Barbados Police Force will not allow bad behaviour by officers to be swept under the carpet.
The assurance came from Commissioner Darwin Dottin as he responded to recent charges by president of the Barbados Bar Association, Andrew Pilgrim, who also felt rogue cops should be sent packing.
Noting that when an officer donned the uniform, he or she became committed to certain stringent guidelines, Dottin added: “It comes with certain responsibility and the force does not countenance bad behaviour by officers.
“Our record is there; you see officers turn up before the court to answer charges like anybody else. When they deviate from the path that has been set, when they abuse the public trust, we have no other option but to ensure they face the criminal law.”
