Windies lose ODI opener

ROHIT?SHARMA and captain Suresh Raina were making victory so much a formality for the world champions India that some in the Queen’s Park Oval opted to go back in time.
“India ’fraid Brian Lara . . . India ’fraid Brian Lara,” went the unsteady refrain of some Constantine Stand occupants.
But there was of course no Lara, and no magic batting either; so with five overs and one ball of the scheduled 50 overs still to go in the first One-Day International of the Digicel Pearls Cricket Series, India were already 1-0 up.
Harbhajan Singh dispatched West Indies captain Darren Sammy over the midwicket boundary in front the KFC Stand for six to cement India’s four-wicket win, with Man Of The Match Sharma at the other end unbeaten on 68 (75 balls, three fours, one six). (GW)
