Justices of the Peace (JPs) are highly trained and undergo continual educational courses.
That’s the word from president of the Justices of the Peace Association Inc, Demora Kirton, in response to criticisms by Andrew Pilgrim, president of the Barbados Bar Association.
Kirton said the high standards maintained by the association were proof.
“I do not know any of those JPs Mr Pilgrim seems to be so offended by,” she said. “The only JPs I know are those who, year after year, volunteer wisely to receive training, recognizing that the demands made upon the office of JP will become greater as Barbados develops.”
