Outgoing chairman of LIAT Jean Holder today revealed that the regional the airline had brought in experts to work through “a strategic plan”.
Durint a Press briefing earlier today at the Grantley Adams International Airport, Holder while not going into details, said they were looking at the profitability of the airline’s routes which were divided into commercially viable and social routes.
“And in that context, we need to now discuss a policy decision as to what we are going to do and what it is going to cost. . . . Instead of fighting up down here, it may make more sense fighting up in the Dominican Republic, in Cuba, in Haiti. But you have to have the equipment to go to these places.
“So what I am saying is that within LIAT right now there is a ferment of discussion about what the future holds for air transportation in the region,” said Holder. (MM)
