Ice Wales joined Claytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame in second spot on 29 points after a nerve-racking 2-1 victory over relegation bound Crane & Equipment Ellerton when the Digicel Premier League football championship continued at the National Stadium on Thursday night.
Pride of Gall Hill won by a similar margin over Families First St John Sonnets.
And, in the continuation of the game between Paradise and Bagatelle – hit by a floodlight failure at Bridgefield last week –teenager Armando Lashley added to his two earlier goals to end the match with each of Paradise’s five goals as they ran out 5-2 winners.
Lashley registered goals in the 23rd, 26th, 81st, 88th and 89th minutes to carry his season’s tally to 12.
Rohan Weekes had made a double strike for Bagatelle in the 57th and 75th minutes when a power failure led to a premature stoppage with the score at 2-2.
Jason Goodridge gave Gall Hill some breathing space away from the relegation zone with a brace in the 57th and 82nd minutes after 16-year-old Ramario Harewood drew Sonnets level in the 77th minute.
The defeat left Sonnets firmly in relegation territory on 12 points, five behind Bagatelle.
Ellerton, showing more purpose than they had in earlier games, played like a team with a plan, but they were outdone by two early first-half strikes.
Anthony Forde struck first in the 13th minute and strike partner Dwayne Stanford in the 16th.
Raheim Thomas cut the deficit in the 30th minute but it was not enough as his team suffered their 14th defeat in 15 matches.
