American fashion model and actress Eva Pigford is in Barbados.
Pigford, who arrived on the island yesterday, was greeted at Grantley Adams International Airport by many, including the organisers of the Karl J Celebrity Hairshow that will take place tonight at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
She will co-host the biggest hairshow to hit the island alongside American actress Meagan Good, who is expected to arrive today.
While taking in her first impression of the island on the outskirts of the airport, Pigford said she was happy to be in Barbados and was here not only to host the glamorous show, but also to enjoy the island’s beauty – local delicacies included.
“I just plan to have a lot of fun. I have been all over the world but I have never been to Barbados. I heard that it’s gorgeous and that you are my people too; I mean as far as our hair texture and where we originated from [are concerned]. I enjoy going across the world to see my brothers and my sisters who look like me,” said the winner of the third series of America’s Next Top Model.
And according to organizer and American celebrity hairstylist Karl J, the event – divided into a hairstyling and modelling competition featuring 18 local salons/stylists, three schools and local models – “is expected to be one of high energy and creativity”.
“I expect the show to go incredibly well. I am looking forward to a show that is extremely high energy and full of creativity; to showcase local talents while giving exposure to hairstylists and make-up artists alike,” said the excited hairstylist. (AH)
