Stuart: Civil aviation priority

Barbados cannot afford to take civil aviation security lightly.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart made this point yesterday as the House of Assembly debated amending the Civil Aviation Act to beef up safety.
He said Barbados and other Caribbean countries had been “lucky” over the years but needed to guard against safety problems that could spell disaster for aircraft and travellers.
“We cannot play snakes and ladders or ludo with the fortunes of the people of this region in terms of their safety when in aircraft,” he told parliamentarians.
