A NATIONAL SHUTDOWN because of a natural disaster does not mean that all employees should head for home.
Rather, all businesses, especially those in the tourism sector, should have a continuity plan for employees sticking it out on the job.
This recommendation comes from the preparedness and contingency planning specialist with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Brigadier General Earl Arthurs.
He was speaking yesterday during a seminar on Disaster Preparedness – Whither The Checklists For Businesses, hosted by the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) at the Courtyard by Marriott, Hastings, Christ Church. (NB)
