POLICE have stepped up security at the three Bridgetown Magistrates’ Courts months after two court files reportedly went missing.
New seating arrangements and rotation of police officers among the courts are some of the measures that were implemented three weeks ago at the District “A”?Criminal Courts 1 and 2 and the Bridgetown Traffic Court.
However, Assistant Superintendent McDonald Woodruffe, who is in charge of the overall operations of the courts, told the MIDWEEK NATION that the changes were “routine” and had nothing to do with the missing files.
The most noticeable change is the separation of the police prosecutor from other parties in the court. In addition, there has been the new appointment of an Inspector of Police with responsibility over the police officers attached to the courts.
