MEMBERS of the Caribbean Association of Corrections (CAC) have been charged with finding effective ways of addressing recidivism and dealing with drug offenders.
Speaking at the opening of a two-day meeting of the regional association at Blue Horizon Hotel yesterday, Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite asked that they look at effective ways of rehabilitating the people they were charged to oversee.
Not only was it with a view of keeping them out of prison, but Brathwaite said there was a situation in Barbados and some other islands
in the Caribbean where people did not have any family or homes to go back to when they left prison. He said that situation created a “significant challenge” to the authorities. (YB)
