Special treat

Blue and yellow balloons were all around the Grantley Adams International Airport yesterday.
It was a special celebration for a special group.
Very special indeed.
This island’s Special Olympics team returned home yesterday to a specially arranged red-carpet welcome, not just with medals around their necks, but with the knowledge of being the perfect examples of pride and industry.
The team had performed brilliantly last week in the Summer Games in Athens, Greece, where they won two gold, one silver and four bronze medals.
Their hard work was recognised yesterday by the Special Olympic movement, through a welcome home party usually reserved for the likes of Olympic medallist Obadele Thompson, or World Championships defending champ Ryan Brathwaite.
Here, gold medallist Nikita Maycock and silver medallist Marwyn Lorde share a proud moment at the airport yesterday during the welcome home celebration.
