A ST MICHAEL family was thrown into mourning yesterday as Barbados recorded its latest road fatality.
Gerald Chee-a-tow, 78, of Mount Clapham, St Michael, died on the spot after the vehicle he was driving crashed with three others.
After the accident, which took place around 4:30 p.m. on the Bagatelle section of the Ronald Mapp Highway, two of the six people involved had to be taken from their vehicles by the Jaws of Life – Chee-a-Tow and an unidentified truck driver.
Police have not yet issued any other names of those involved in the smash-up.
Saddened son of the deceased, Ray Chee-a-tow, told NATIONNews.com that the dad of four was “the best father any person could wish for; he was a good man”.
Two fire tenders and several ambulances responded, and many onlookers gathered in the bushy area and under trees of the Lucky Horseshoe property. (AH)
