THE Barbados Auto Racing League (BARL) is being plagued by internal conflict weeks before it mounts one of the major rally events.
While its board, headed by chairman Adrian Mayers, has been preparing for the Williams Digicel International Event on August 25 at Bushy Park, St Philip, repeated calls are also being made for its resignation.
The SUNDAY SUN was reliably informed that Mayers and the other board members had been asked to step aside so that an interim chairman could be chosen and fresh elections held. There have also been calls for a forensic audit of the finances.
Sources said several email had been making the rounds, written by someone calling himself Barl Whistleblower agitating for the removal of the board.
In the email, which were obtained by the SUNDAY?SUN the writer alleged that an audited account of the club’s financials was not presented at this year’s AGM in February.
Questions were also raised about the disappearance of arm bands and tickets which a non-club member was caught selling at one of the racing events.
Full story in today’s SUNDAY SUN.
