The forthcoming 2011 Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals could be a watershed in Barbadian politics and, according to former Prime Minister Owen Arthur, will be more important than ever.
Delivering the wrap-up speech at the St Michael North-West Barbados Labour Party (BLP) nomination of attorney-at-law Gregory Nicholls at Ellerslie School last night, Opposition Leader Arthur was in no doubt that next month’s Budget was crucial.
He said he had been spending much time getting ready for the debate.
“I believe that the next Budget debate will be the most single important debate in the history of this country,” he told party supporters. “This country is not facing just one crisis, but a multiplicity of crises.”
