APPROXIMATELY?$300 000 in building materials required to renovate the Oistins Public Library have vanished, and the disappearance has forced Minister of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth Stephen Lashley to order a full-scale investigation.
Lashley told the DAILY?NATION that Permanent Secretary Shirley Farnum would head the probe into the alleged financial infelicities.
“If there is a case of wrongdoing, I will ensure that the weight of the law is applied to the fullest extent,” said Lashley, who added that he would not tolerate any dishonesty under his watch.
Lashley said the investigation could expand into a forensic audit of the library department. (MK)
