Crop Over will go on

DESPITE THE bad weather forecast for tomorrow, the Crop Over show will go on, says the National Cultural Foundation (NCF).
The NCF’s corporate communications specialist Wayne Simmons said the agency had no plans to disappoint the 8 000 revellers and 21 bands expected to chip and dance from Warrens to Spring Garden during tomorrow’s Grand Kadooment.
The Meteorological Office reported that a strong tropical wave was approaching the island. Today is forecast to be mostly fair during the morning, becoming increasingly cloudy, with showers and possible isolated thunderstorms by afternoon.
“Indications are that some of this activity will persist into Monday,” a bulletin from the office said. “Residents should remain on the alert and continue to monitor any further updates from this office.”
Simmons said the NCF was not taking the weather for granted but would be in constant contact with the Department of Emergency Management and “playing it literally by the moment”. (LK/CA)
