THOUSANDS OF REVELLERS will be looking to the skies and the weather man this morning for a clue to whether there will be just a wet Grand Kadooment or no Kadooment at all.
Over the past 48 hours anxious revellers were anticipating forecasts from the Meteorological Office as they collected costumes from band houses, some of which were adding last-minute touches in preparation for the annual Warrens-to-Spring Garden jump-up.
Corporate communications specialist at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) Wayne Simmons told the DAILY NATION yesterday afternoon that a news bulletin will be issued “first thing” this morning to give an update on what decision was made by the authorities concerning the status of today’s event.
“We had a meeting [yesterday] evening at 4 o’clock with the Barbados Meteorological Office and the Department of Emergency Management and we have the clearance to go for Cohobblopot,” he reported. “What we will do is continue to monitor the weather but, as it stands, Grand Kadooment is on.” (AH)
