GEORGETOWN – Barbados roared to the top of the West Indies Cricket Board Regional Under-19 One-Day Championship when they easily beat Leeward Islands by five wickets in the third round of matches here yesterday.
Set 167 for victory at Everest, Barbados were propelled by an unbeaten 63 from Anthony Alleyne as they reached 170 for five off 41.2 overs.
The win was Barbados’ third and carried them to 15.9 points, leaving them on course for the title as the only unbeaten side in the tournament.
Winning the toss and opting to bowl, Barbados dismissed the Leewards for 166 in 35.3 overs. Fast-medium seamer Kyle Mayers grabbed three for 18 and off-spinner Chaim Holder claimed three for 50.
