Minimum wage in the works

MINISTER?OF?LABOUR?Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo says Government is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to have a national minimum wage.
Byer-Suckoo made that declaration when addressing the Democratic Labour Party’s (DLP) weekly luncheon lecture at the DLP’s headquarters on George Street, Belleville, St Michael, yesterday.
She said that legislation to establish a minimum wages board was in draft form with the Chief Parliamentary Counsel. 
“That board will advise the minister on what should be a minimum wage for various sectors. We will be looking at the information we have in the labour market and doing the analysis to determine what would be fair for the various sectors,” she explained. (MK)
