Government will construct a centre for the performing arts, and has called on radio stations to play no less than 60 per cent of local music, while it pledged $50 million to promote, market and distribute local entertainers’ products and servicesfrom next year.
Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler said the multi-purpose, state-of-the-art Cultural and Performing Arts Centre would be financed and constructed through a grant from the government of the People’s Republic of China, and located at Spring Garden opposite the Brandons Beach facility once given Town Planning approval.Â
He said further details would come soon.
Sinckler also promised those across the music, arts and entertainment spectrum a five-year Government-backed $50 million guarantee that would allow them to borrow $10 million yearly from 2012. (RJ)
