Can’t pay bills, or feed grandkids

Dear Christine,
I AM?WRITING in the hope that you will be able to help me. Christine, things are really hard for me now. I am left to take care of my daughter’s two children, and the money which I get from the Welfare Department cannot support us at all.
Some days we hardly have anything to eat. Just paying the utilities on my small salary is hard. My electricity bill is as high as $200. I do not own a washing machine, and only burn a few lights in the house. I cannot understand why it is so high.
Christine, I do not know where else to turn for help. Please, please see what you can do for me, and make the time to come and see me soon.
I really need your help with foodstuff and clothing for the one-year-old child. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear In Need,
I rely on the kindness of Barbadians to give what they can, so I can help persons like you.
Over the past three weeks, we have had feedback from a number of Barbadians. In order to help persons like yourself on a regular basis, individuals must be giving at least on a monthly basis, since I seek to provide food items for some families every week or fortnight.
Having said that, I will visit you at the earliest opportunity.
 – CHRISTINE
