GOVERNMENT-AFFILIATED AGENCIES have disbursed close to $70 million in grants, loans, equity and other assistance to small businesses between 2008 and June this year.
And according to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, Government’s efforts to increase the number of entrepreneurs in Barbados are bearing fruit.
Stuart said reports indicated an upward trend in the number of small businesses coming on stream with some needing little or no direct financial assistance from Government.
He made the comments yesterday during the launch of Government’s Trade Receivables Liquidity Facility (TRLF), more commonly known as a factoring programme.
