CONTESTANTS of Miss Barbados World almost stopped traffic in Bridgetown yesterday.
The glamorous group took part in a motorcade, stopping the eight participating vehicles outside Cave Shepherd on Broad Street, The City, for an impromptu photo shoot.
Public relations manager Tashida Cox said the event was a pre-show motorcade designed to promote the show, which will be held today at 7 p.m. at Hilton Barbados.
She said there were two specially invited guests here for the show – Bianca Golden, who will be in America’s Next Top Model TV show airing September 24, and Aiasha Gustave, Miss St Lucia and Miss World Caribbean 2010.
Golden, who was born in Turks and Caicos but has relatives here, said it was her first time in Barbados and she loved it. She advised the contestants to believe in themselves.
“I know it sounds cliché, but if you do not believe in yourself, then why should I?” she asked.
This is not the first trip to the island for Gustave, however. She praised the island’s beauty and the hospitality of the Hilton, and encouraged the contestants to be true to themselves. (CA)
