CRIMINALS ARE TARGETING people with mobile phones, jewellery and laptop computers travelling on public service vehicles (PSVs).
Police said last night that in recent times passengers travelling on minibuses and ZR vans have had these types of valuables stolen by criminals.
Public relations officer Inspector David Welch said: “We have had complaints, which are coming so often to be of concern . . . . Besides the snatching on the streets, these men are now lying in wait at bus stops and traffic lights . . . specifically looking at those wearing jewellery, carrying cellphones, even laptop computers.”
Welch noted that this criminal trend had been evident on the Collymore Rock/Wildey road, and parts of Brittons Hill, in St Michael, but warned that it was not just these areas which were of concern. He stated similar crimes could occur in any place at any time. (ES)
