Roman Catholics from across the Caribbean applauded loudly yesterday afternoon as Bishop Charles Jason Gordon of the Dioceses of Bridgetown and Kingstown was presented to them following his ordination at St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, Jemmotts Lane.
The solemn ceremony conducted by Archbishop Joseph Harris of Trinidad and attended by several bishops and archbishops, had a distinctly Caribbean flavour with steelband accompaniment to the uptempo religious songs and the sung ordination mass.
Here, uttering the words: “My people, here is your bishop,” Archbishop Harris (left) presents Bishop Gordon to the very large congregation as Bishop Emeritus Malcolm Galt (right) looks on. (GC)
Your Bishop!
