Defending champion Christian Hinds will be looking to extend his winning streak to four when the Barbados Karting Association 2011 Frutee Championship continues today at the Bushy Park Racing Circuit in St Philip.
Hinds has won both rounds of the second season thus far in the championship but it was in Round 2 of the second season that he looked in his best form.
As an added bonus there will be special prizes compliments Tall Ships for first place for each group.
Tremaine Forde-Catwell and Owen Yarde are tied for second place in Round 2 and will be looking to stop Hinds.
After a valiant effort the team of Raphael Russell could not get the kart going and each time his crew thought they had solved the problem, it raised its ugly head once again. Hopefully they have been able to rectify the problem.
After missing the opening round of season two, Saviola Thomas returned with a bang, winning three of the four races in the second round of the Yamaha 270 Class.
Thomas narrowly won the first season by one point and after his impressive showing the last time out, he will be eager to make up ground on Joshua Maloney and Javani Smith.
Joshua, who was second to Thomas in season one, is the points leader in season two and was the winner of the only race Thomas did not win last time out.
He will be looking to stop Thomas while keeping Smith at bay.
Joshua Parris only managed to finish one race and will be hoping the kart is more reliable this time around, while Kristopher Mapp overcame mechanical problems and made it for the last race of the group.
In the Easy Kart 60cc Class, Zane Maloney has won the first two rounds of season two, leaving season one leader Megan Gilkes to chase.
Maloney won three of the four races last time out after Gilkes had opened the day with a victory. However, she had to settle for second place in the remaining races and on the day.
These two have opened a gap on the others in season two, Aiden Fortier and Noah White.
Today’s meet is being sponsored by Arron Parris Construction Inc., AR Trucking and Equipment Rental, and KG’s freighting and Bobcat Services. (BA/PR)
