REDjet was not originally intended to be a carrier into the smaller islands of the Caribbean, says Minister of International Transport George Hutson.
“When we licensed REDjet and certainly when REDjet came in there was no talk about going into the islands.
“REDjet was supposed to help us to develop our tourism product and our markets within the Central American area and the larger Caribbean countries.
“That is why they have the type of aircraft they have. They are not geared for going into smaller jurisdictions within the Caribbean,” Hutson said.
