THE SWEET POTATO took centre stage yesterday at Sharon Primary?School, St Thomas.
From sweet potato punch and sweet potato ice cream to sweet potato cheesecake and sweet potato chips (with dip), the versatility of the ground provision was evident.
It was all part of the school’s activities for World Food Day, which falls officially on October 16.
Co-ordinator of the special events and fund-raising committee, senior teacher Betty White, said the dishes were prepared by parents.
Other fruits and vegetables were on display, as well as milk and juices.
The children spent the day engaged in activities such as writing poems and stories and putting various art and craft projects together.
“The parents have again responded well, and we are happy with the results,” said White. (CA)
