Past leader talk

WHILE NOT CASTING a shadow, the issue of unity in the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) has quietlysurfaced at the 73rd annual conference.
Some participants point to what they see as a low-keyed role former Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley is playing in the three-day meeting as an indication that some differences of opinion remain over issues such as the way she was dropped from the post.
Yesterday, lawyer Gregory Nicholls, one of six new BLP candidates making presentations, urged members and supporters of the party
“not to get sidetracked as to who is the political leader”.
He said the BLP’s parliamentary group had settled the political leadership issue and “this party therefore needs to move on from that”. (TY)
